Circus Experience Day

Ever wanted to run away with the circus? Or just fancy trying something a bit different? We have a specially-rigged training space which allows us to offer everyone to come and experience the circus!

Our experienced tutors can break seemingly impossibly difficult skills down to teach all ages and abilities the exciting art of circus, allowing everyone to gain impressive new skills and have a thoroughly enjoyable day. So what sort of skills will I be learning? We teach three main types of skills in our workshops, all of which you may well have seen performed if you’ve ever seen a circus show and been inspired! Our circus experience days may vary slightly in content, so if there’s a particular skill you are interested in, call us to check the exact programme for a certain day or to book a specific group or individual lesson. From time to time we also run master classes in specific skills. To give you a basic idea of the types of skills we offer, most skills fall under the following three categories.

Handheld skills: These are the throwing, catching, spinning, swinging types of skills. This category includes juggling, diabolo, poi, spinning plates, cigar boxes, devil stick and staff.

Balance skills: Anything involving human balancing. We teach unicycling, stilt walking, tightwire, rola bola, walking globe and acro-balance.

Aerial skills: trapeze, aerial silks and cord lisse.

Our experience days encompass a combination of skills from each category, allowing all participants an exciting chance to try a broad spectrum of new things and discover where their personal talent lies! Everyone will be able to learn something new and discover the satisfaction of mastering impressive skills.

Who can join in? Anyone can have a go at circus, though our experience days are generally categorised for adults and children separately, as different age groups learn differently and it is generally less intimidating if you are amongst people of your own age. If you have a specific need or medical condition, please contact us to discuss suitability of the circus skills and each specific experience day.

Private bookings are welcome for individuals or small groups; circus experience is ideal for any special event such as a birthday or hen / stag party or just for fun! We offer special children’s birthday packages as well as specifically designed corporate team building days too.

What will I take away from the experience? Circus has many benefits: there are physical ones such as improved hand-eye co-ordination, balance, and spatial awareness, as well as psychological ones like concentration and self-motivation. In terms of mementos, for private bookings every participant receives a certificate of achievement at the end of the day. We may offer the opportunity for you to purchase your own high quality handheld circus equipment so you can show off your new skills to your friends! Photographs may also available to buy before you leave as a more personal reminder of your experience!
